ABOUT our COLLECTIBLE PASSOVER SEDER TRAY
From Darkness to Light, from Slavery to Freedom 9 X 16 X 16”
This old world Seder Tray depicts the journey of the exodus from Egypt, using hundreds of tiny inlaid materials. The meticulous inlaid scenes of the Passover Tray gradually change color from dark to light as a metaphor for liberation. In this age of technology it is hard to find contemporary pieces that involve the amount of labor devoted to the creation of the Gruss Passover Tray. These increasingly rare and beautiful ceremonial objects are of particular interest to collectors of Judaica, who should contact us for further information.
A mix of figures from different periods of Jewish history is portrayed by hand cut colorful woods, gems, metals and shells. In this panel a survivor crosses the Jordan River on his way to Jerusalem.
